Part 2: How a federation of red states would differ from the US
As seen in mapped data by county
Here are more maps showing how a federation of red states would differ from the US.
Read the explanation in Part 1 here.
Red states are different. More dog owners than cat owners.
A federation of red states would be less Hispanic (and less Asian) than the US, even before future migration & deportations.
Not obvious on this map, but most Hispanics live in big cities, which are in blue states. Plus, Texas might opt to be independent from any union of states.
This map is old, but in 2016 the Trump states had much more manufacturing than the Hillary states
A federation of red states would be more religious than the US
A federation of red states would have more red-heads per capita than the US
A federation of red states would give a lot more to charity per capita than the US
A federation of red states would have more disposable income (purchasing power parity) than the US, because of lower state taxes and lower cost of living This meme was saved 2017, but we tabulated it out more recently.
2025 data from Pew Research makes the difference between red states and blue states obvious! % of population that's highly religious, based on what respondents say about their attendance & prayer frequency, belief in God, & value of religion:
Looks like Michigan & NM are the only states whose population is at least 30% religious and who I predict won't be included if states peacefully choose which federation to join during a National Divorce. Michigan scored 30% (24th), NM 34% (19th).
Only red states that are irreligious are Iowa 21% (43rd), Ohio 28% (30th) and WV 29% (27th). Correlation between religiousness and being a red state is extremely tight. If Iowa wants to let some blue cities in eastern IA join Illinois, it could. Or it could become a haven for irreligious RW & pagan RW in the new federation. It would be a loose federation where domestic policy is set by each state, not by feds.
The red states seem younger, but that might change since many immigrants wouldn't get permission to live in the red states. On the other hand, some young red-state native sons who moved to a big city for work would return to a red state during National Divorce.
Colorado is the only genteel blue state, and Louisiana the only crass red state, although I wanna know what’s wrong with North Dakota:
Genteel major metro areas: DFW, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, St. Louis, Nashville, Indianapolis.
This is not a breakdown of GOP vs Dem. It's a break down of states Trump won in 2016 (minus MI, WI, PA) vs states Hillary won:
What other differences can you name? What did I miss?
Help the Texas Nationalist Movement and Free Louisiana lead the red states out of the Union. Their voters poll in favor of secession, so we just need to get their legislatures to hold a referendum. Once they go, others have to join to avoid blue-state tyrants.

No perverts in my state!
How about recycling rates, landfill areas, second-hand stores, road repair/quality, traffic congestion, trash burning?
